Access Statement For the Lea Hurst guest house

Introduction

We aim to cater for the needs of all our guest in our family run 8 bedroom non smoking guest house. The following statement is a summary of our provisions.

Pre-Arrival

The train station is 5 minutes away by car and the bus station is approximately a seven minute walk. There is a local taxi service should you require it.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

There are no designated car parking bays but there is free 24 hour parking on one side of the road and permit parking on the other side, we can provide you with a parking permit if it is not in use.

Main Entrance & Reception

We do not have wheelchair access. There is one 6 inch step from the pavement to a paved area and two 7 inch steps to the front door, there is a grab rail for assistance on the right hand side of the door frame. We always assist our guests with their luggage.

Public Areas - General (Internal)

Situated on the ground floor we have our guest lounge and dining room, there are no steps or ramps. the flooring is carpeted throughout and all areas are well lit. we do not cater for pets.

Public Areas – WC

Public areas have a good colour contrast and are well lit. The stairs have 15 steps to the first floor and 13 steps to the second floor.

Restaurant / Dining Room, Bar & Lounges, Take Away & Cafe

Breakfast is served in the dining room where there are no steps or ramps, the furniture is flexible and can be moved easily, the chairs are without arms. the decor is bright and the area is well lit.

Bedrooms

The stairs have 15 steps to the first floor where we have 2 single rooms, 1 twin room en-suite and 1 family room en-suite. 13 steps to the second floor we have 1 single room en-suite and 3 double en-suite rooms.We provide a colour tv,tea and coffee making facilities and clean towels. All rooms have a 75 decibel sounder in case of a fire alarm, please notify us when you arrive if you have a hearing impairment and we will assist you to evacuate safely if the need arises.

Bathroom, Shower-room & WC [Ensuite or Shared]

The bathroom on the first floor landing is private and shared by guests using the single rooms. The floor is covered with lino and non slip mats. it consists of a bath, hand basin and WC. There are no support rails or bath seat.

Additional Information

an iron and a hair dryer can be made available if you require one.
